Pastor and Mrs. Ensminger

Bob and Martha EnsmingerPastor and Mrs. Ensminger began their ministry at Refuge on January 27, 2019. They bring a considerable amount of ministry experience to the church.

Bob was saved at an early age, but in his teen years he began to doubt his salvation. His life was not showing the fruit of salvation. At the age of nineteen, while working at a church camp, the Lord convicted him of his ways. At that time Bob got on his hands and knees and prayed to the Lord that if he had not truly been saved as a child, he was, at this time, confessing Jesus as His Lord and Savior.

At the same time the Lord also directed him into the ministry. He soon transferred from his training in Electrical Engineering to Bible college. He graduated in 1977 from Appalachian Bible Institute (now College) and in 1978 joined United Missionary Fellowship (now Biblical Ministries Worldwide). In 1980 he began a teaching and church planting ministry in New Zealand.

In June 1981 he and Martha married and later that year returned to New Zealand. In 1983 the Lord closed the door to New Zealand and redirected Bob and Martha to Hawaii, where Bob served as interim pastor of Maili Bible Church for 8 months. Then again in 1985 God redirected Bob and Martha to a church-planting ministry in Samoa where they served for five years on the island of Savai'i.

In 1991, after the Lord closed the door to Samoa, He opened the door for ministry in Fiji, where they spent more than 26 years in church planting and leadership training.

In December 2017 the Ensmingers returned to the US and, in November 2018, accepted the call to pastor Refuge Baptist Church. Pastor Ensminger's passion is to see people come to Christ in salvation and then to grow in the Word of God. His ministry is based on the clear, expository preaching of the Word of God.

The Ensmingers have 5 married children and 9 grandchildren.
